Weekly Groups

CLUB 56

For 5-6th graders. During the school year, Club 56 meets at The Edge Sunday nights 4:30-6 pm. We play games, worship, & get a great talk about who Jesus is & how we can love others & grow in our faith together. In the summer, we meet once a month for fun activities & to have a great time hanging out together.

MS THE EDGE

Sunday nights during the school year we ramp up for the best thing going on for 7-8th graders at our church. We meet 4:30-6 pm in The Edge & if you are looking for a place to get connected this is a great place to start. We have worship, games, & small groups every week. We talk about life & our faith & try to equip our youth to share the love of Christ with other youth.

HS BIBLE STUDY

SUNDAY SCHOOL

For 6-7th graders. During the school year, class meets Sunday in The Edge from 9:40-10:40am. We study the Bible & investigate how it all applies to our lives.

CONFIRMATION

For 2021, we will have confirmation classes for 9th graders. We will meet on Sundays, October thru April, from 9:40-10:40am during our 2nd worship service. For any youth who missed Confirmation in previous years, we will have a high school confirmation class that runs at the same time.

Retreats

FALL RETREAT

For 7-12th graders. Since fall 2009, we've partnered with other local United Methodist Churches to put on our annual Fall Retreat. The retreat is at FaHoLo camp, only 25 minutes away, & the relationships built there last for years. We have tons of activities, big group sessions, & the fun opportunity to just get away for a weekend. It’s usually the first weekend in November & runs Friday evening until Sunday noon. https://www.faholo.org/

WINTER RETREAT

For 7-12th graders. Every winter we head 3 hours north for a weekend of SpringHill winter camp. Springhill is a high energy and Christ centered weekend full of fun. Our trip is usually mid to late February from Friday after school til Sunday afternoon. Check out Springhill’s website for more info.

Mission Trips

MS MISSION TRIP

Since 2014, our 7-8th graders have been going on a 1-week summer mission trip. Since 2018, we've partnered with St. Matthew’s UMC in Ypsilanti to help them run their VBS Program. We spend the mornings in Ypsi working VBS & the afternoons doing fun activities & programming for our participating youth from DUMC. Students are dropped off & picked up at The Edge each morning & evening except for Thursday evening when we spend the night at The Edge.

SOS MISSION TRIP

The 3rd week in June we take our HS youth to Memphis TN to join SOS (Service Over Self). We have been going for over 10 years & have really enjoyed partnering with SOS. SOS is an urban home repair ministry in inner city Memphis & exists to “glorify God by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in word and deed through urban home repair camps.” During the day we work on houses in need of serious repair & evenings we enjoy dinner, a sweet chapel service, & lots of hang out time. SENIOR BELIZE MISSION

Since 2012 we have taken our senior class on an international mission trip. We have been to Haiti, Costa Rica, & most recently Belize. It’s an amazing opportunity to share our faith with a different culture & also see how God is working in different parts of the world. This trip is for seniors only who are involved with the youth ministry at DUMC & it takes place during their spring break. Since 2014 we have partnered with Omega church in Belize. Interested? Edge Arts

ONE VOICE YOUTH CHOIR

Love to sing? Join One Voice--our Youth Choir for grades 5-12. We have a 5-8th grade choir and a 9-12th grade choir. Both meet in the Loft above the main office in the Ed building.

5-8th grade: Sundays 4-4:30 pm

9-12th grade: Sundays 8-8:40 pm

CUTTING EDGE WORSHIP

Cutting Edge Worship is a youth-driven praise team that seeks to use modern sounds and songs to worship our Creator. We lead worship at the Edge, and occasionally elsewhere. During the school year, we rehearse Sunday afternoon from 4:40-5:50. Any High School student is welcome to join us. We are always looking for teens with a heart to worship and fresh talent (in that order)!

EDGE ARTS

Throughout the year, we offer various opportunities to worship through the arts: vocal music, worship band, dance, drama, human video, instrumental music, short sermons, visual arts, writing/poetry, strings, and more. Potential performance opportunities include State Fine Arts Festival, Dessert Theatre, Multi-Generation Services, Special Music during church services, & community outreach. If you have special talents or interests, let us know!

Nerf Club

NERF CLUB

We have tons of fun at Nerf Club having Nerf battles all over our campus. It's for all 1st-12th graders, but they don't all play at the same time. Usually, we meet on the 2nd Friday of the month. See our monthly calendar below for dates. You can bring your own Nerf blaster or borrow one of ours, we have plenty. 1st-8th graders register on the home page of this website. (9-12th graders don't need to register.)
