Hi, I'm Bill. I've been around DUMC for a while; married at the old church in 1990, teaching Sunday School since 1996, doing the youth worship band thing since Archie was in middle school. So yeah, I'm old. But so blessed to be part of this church home and working with these "foine yoots." My wife, Jennifer, has attended DUMC pretty much her whole life, teaches children's Sunday School and is the queen of the rummage sale bookstore. My daughter Bethany is a '14 DHS grad, WMU alum and a music/Spanish teacher at Ardrey Kell HS in Charlotte NC. My son Kurtis is a '16 DHS grad and an EMU student and future English teacher. So I guess teaching runs in the blood. In my spare time I play with guitars, motorcycles and old cars, and watch Star Trek and Marvel/DC movies.

My name is Madelyn Sly and I am from Milford, MI. I grew up in a christian home with 9 siblings (known as the Slycrew). I previously attended Berean Baptist Church of Livonia (the church I grew up attending with my family) and Cornerstone of Brighton (the church I attended since 2018 with my fiancé), but have been coming to DUMC since moving in with my grandparents (Bob and Elsi Sly) in Dexter around August of 2019. I am currently finishing up my degree at Wayne State University as a vocal music education major with piano as my principal instrument. I had my student teaching at Saline Middle School and Heritage School teaching 5th-8th grade choir this past fall semester of 2019. I chose this career because of my love for music; I began taking piano lessons when I was four years old from my grandmother, Elsi Sly, who instructed my entire family. Being an inspiration through music is one of my desires and I hope to encourage students to love music as much as I do, just as my music teachers have inspired me. God has blessed me so much throughout my life and I am so thankful to have been given this opportunity to create music and worship together with the youth choirs here at DUMC.
