Club 56 Leaders
Club 56 is our weekly youth group for 5th and 6th graders. During the school year, we meet on Sunday nights from 4:30-6 pm with dinner provided during this time. We play games, worship a bit, and have a great talk about who Jesus is and how we can love others and grow in our faith together. In the summer, we meet once a month for fun activities and to hang out and have a great time together. Get to know our awesome Club 56 leaders below!
MARIAH KASTEN
Club 56 Leader
My name is Mariah Kasten, and I’m a senior studying engineering at the University of Michigan, Go Blue! I enjoy volleyball, art, and playing board games. I am so excited for my third year being a counselor for Club 56! I love getting to see these kids grow in their faith, and I also just enjoy getting to know them through funny icebreakers and crazy games. This year is unlike any other, but I am so excited to be able to connect with these amazing 5th and 6th graders!
MOLLY CORCORAN
Club 56 Leader
My name is Molly Corcoran, I’m a freshman at Michigan State University this year learning online, and I’m so excited to be a leader at club 56 this fall! I’ve grown up going to DUMC my whole life, and I’ve been involved with the Edge since 6th grade. So this church community is very near and dear to my heart! I can’t wait to build relationships with the kids and help them to know the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior!
KARA YOUNG
Club 56 Leader
Hi, my name is Kara Young and I couldn't be more blessed to get to grow in faith with the kids in club 56! I live in Dexter with my parents and puppy Josie and grew up in the church starting when we moved here back in 2008. I went through the Dexter schools and graduated in the spring of 2019. I am currently attending Washtenaw Community College before transferring to the University of Michigan to receive my bachelor's in either pre-pharmacy or pre-dentistry before attending grad school. In the little free time I have, I love to dance, cook, and spend time with my friends and family. I am also an avid participant in the church's Fine Arts program; I participate in human video, dance, and everything in-between! This is my first year being a D-Group leader at the Edge, however some of you may recognize me from Vacation Bible School here at the church, working in the nursery doing childcare, as a teacher at Stepping Stones, and simply just being here a lot! I'm a looking forward greatly to working with these kids and sharing the love of God with them.
SETH KASTEN
Club 56 Leader
I've been involved with The Edge since high school and since being a summer youth intern in 2017 when we rebooted Club 56, I've stuck around to help lead. I graduated from University of Michigan in May 2020 studying Economics and Music and found my wife Mariah along the way and recruited her as a leader too. I love playing most sports and games and spending time with friends and family, but an old book inside does the trick in the cold season. Being at The Edge is always a blast to teach 5th and 6th graders about God's Word and help them learn healthy relationships and fun. You'll see a lot of the Kastens around The Edge as my dad and brother also help in high school; the youth program is a blessing to all.
JOSH VERWOERT
Club 56 Leader
I have been attending The Edge for the last 4 years and was a part of the Youth Worship Band as the drummer. I recently graduated from Saline High School in the Class of 2020. I played varsity baseball and basketball and was also in the drumline. This is my freshman year at the University of Windsor and I am studying Industrial Engineering. I enjoy music, road trips, and sports. It has been such a blessing to be involved with DUMC and the wonderful people I have met. This is my first year as a leader and I am very excited to be around Club 56!
